Arrival and first impressions checking in to JetPark Hotel Rotorua

Our welcome to the hotel was fantastic.

We had driven from the South Waikato to Rotorua and arrived around 6:00pm on a Friday evening.  The staff on the reception had a great energy and it was a very warm welcome to the hotel.

It was a smooth and fast check-in with two staff on the front desk.

We were given two key cards for our room and instructed where to park around the back on the hotel with a swipe card for re-entry through a closer door to the car park.

We stayed in the ‘Family Suite’ at JetPark Hotel Rotorua.

The Family Suite is set up brilliantly for families.  It is a two-bedroom suite with 2x single beds in a separate room and a large king bed in the main room.

The room was immaculately clean with a handwritten note of welcome on the table.

There are tea and coffee making facilities, including a coffee machine.  The room even has a basic kitchenette with plates and cutlery and a mini refrigerator and microwave.

The kids were stoked to have their own bedroom!  They hooked us into the free WIFI and we were all pleased to kick back and relax before heading downstairs for dinner.

Meals, and our dining experience at the in-house Te Puru Cafe

The JetPark Hotel Rotorua has an in-house café, Te Puru Café on the ground floor.  The café menu operates from 12:00pm – 10:00pm and includes a great selection of New Zealand and international beer, wines and cocktails.

The lunch and dinner menu are simple, but with delicious pizza options, burgers, fish and chips and shared platters or nibbles.

We loved the beer-battered fries and tried each of the pizzas.  The kids reckon the Chicken and Cranberry Pizza was the best they’ve tried!

It was a welcome retreat after a busy day exploring the activities and things to do in Rotorua.  We ate at Te Puru Café both nights of our stay.

What about breakfast?

The breakfast was fantastic.

We enjoyed the complimentary continental breakfast buffet with our stay.

There is a great selection of fresh croissants and pastries, cheese, cold meats, cereal, fruit and toast options.  Tea and coffee are available.

The absolute highlight for the kids was the self-serve pancake machine!  They loved the pancakes and were very pleased to find syrup, cream and jam toppings.

There is the option to order a hot breakfast plate or espresso coffee at an additional cost.  Though we found the breakfast selection more than plenty and looked forward to the breakfast again on the second morning!

Where to stay in Rotorua JetPark Hotel family rooms review.
It really is well set up as a great base for exploring Rotorua as a family.

What we enjoyed most about our stay at JetPark Hotel Rotorua

We loved the spacious Family Suite!  It was a treat to have a two-bedroom suite for our stay.

The Family Suite was very well set up for families with the separate room, kitchenette facilities and the large bath and shower.

We also particularly enjoyed the continental buffet breakfast.  I know I already said that the kids loved the pancakes.  But we really enjoyed the buffet selection and while it didn’t have a cooked breakfast as part of the buffet, it was refreshing and well thought out.

Dinner each night at Te Puru Café was delicious.  The menu is simple and doesn’t have many options to choose from.  But this turned out to be a good thing.

We thought the quiet dinner back at the hotel was a welcome retreat after a busy day of exploring in Rotorua.
