The complete adventure
Day 1 – Welcome to Marrakech
Airport transfers from Menera Airport Marrakech to your accommodation followed by free time to spend as you wish after your arrival until our group Welcome Dinner.
We depart our accommodation 7.00pm to take the short ride into Marrakech for our Welcome Group Dinner close to the iconic Jemaa el Fna Square.
Overnight in Marrakech including dinner and breakfast.
Day 2 – Marrakech to Ouarzazate via the High Atlas Mountains and Tichka Pass
Enjoy breakfast at our accommodation. After breakfast we will depart 8.30am to begin our road trip to Ouarzazate. We begin by traversing the spectacular High Atlas Mountains and Tichka Pass.
Our first stop is at the ruinous but ornate Kasbah Telouet where we will visit our first red earth Kasbah (fortress) and enjoy a local lunch.
After lunch take the short journey to visit and tour UNESCO Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou and Berber community. Ben Haddou has been the location of many international films (like Gladiator!).
Photograph and refreshment stops as you like. Arriving at our accommodation approx. 5/6pm.
Overnight in Ouarzazate including lunch, dinner and breakfast.
The majestic Atlas Mountains.Day 3 – Ourzazate to the Desert – Ancient Kasbahs and date palm oases
Depart after breakfast at 8:30am for a spectacular drive through the date palm lined Draa Valley. Journey through red earthed villages and Kasbah oases where we will stop for refreshments at a small enclosed palmerie garden.
Continuing our drive we will stop for lunch at the pre-Saharan town of Zagora.
Here we will meet the Artisan silversmiths who work and live in the Amerzou Palmerie as well as take a visit to the 11th century village of Tamegroute.
There is lots to see here! We will take a guided tour of the partial underground and still inhabited Tamegroute Kasbah.
We depart Tamegroute for the approx. 1hr drive to enter into Sahara at Lihoudi.
At sunset you may choose to camel ride into the desert to Erg Lihoudi Desert Camp (approx. 1hr 30mins ride) or ride by 4×4 (approx. 30mins Desert Drive). Either arrival is an incredible experience!
Overnight at camp and enjoy Saharan hospitality with dinner, a campfire and live Saharan music.
Day 4 – South Saharan Desert
We depart camp after breakfast by 4×4 for an off-road drive into the desert to visit a nomad family.
Enjoy the experience of watching Berber bread being cooked in the hot sand and take tea and the breads freshly cooked in the shade of their Berber tent.
We then drive further on the piste and dunes into Chigaga camp, known for its towering dune sets and remoteness.
Once at camp we can enjoy a relaxing lunch and in the afternoon you are free to explore your desertscape and spend time as you wish. (You might wish to choose to climb one of the towering dunes, relax at camp, sandboard or take a buggy or quad drive through the dunes!).
Enjoy Saharan hospitality for dinner, a campfire and live drumming.
Overnight at Erg Chigaga Desert Camp Including lunch, dinner and breakfast.
Day 5 – Desert Rally and Camel Caravan Routes
Depart camp by 4×4 after breakfast for the 90km desert drive to exit the Sahara. Today we take a different route and follow part of the old Dakar Rally Desert route and pass by the now dry lake of Iriqui.
Enjoy lunch at Desert outpost Foum Zguid before continuing our journey through post-Saharan landscapes and Berber villages. We will stop to visit a women’s carpet co-operative before arriving at the beautiful, time-forgotten Fint Oasis approx. 5/6pm.
Optional Henna pattern application available at the accommodation tonight for anyone wishing to have some Moroccan adornment.
Overnight accommodation at Fint Oasis Including lunch, dinner and breakfast.
Day 6 – Rural Berber life
Spend a relaxing morning immersed in nature at Fint Oasis with the option to see the village women bread making.
Enjoy lunch in a traditional Berber family home before we depart Fint Oasis after lunch to travel over the High Atlas Mountains to Marrakech.
Arrive Marrakech approx. early evening for a relaxing evening with free time to spend as you wish.

Lunch in a Berber family home.Day 7 – Berber hospitality and the magical Ourika Valley
Departing after breakfast at 9.00am for the 1hr scenic drive through the foothills of the Atlas Mountains to Ourika Valley.
Here we will visit a Berber family home for homemade bread, honey, argan oil and a traditional tea ceremony.
After a short drive following the riverbed we will meet with our private hiking guide at the village of Setti Fatma for an approx. 1hr 3omins hike to the waterfalls. This is truly one of the most beautiful parts of Morocco we have seen!
After our hike we have lunch in one of the riverside cafes before returning to our accommodation in Marrakech.
Overnight in Marrakech including breakfast.
The magical Ourika Valley.Today we farewell you at breakfast before your airport transfers to Menera Airport Marrakech. Safe travels and thank you for a fabulous Morocco group tour!

Once you register and make a deposit for the trip you will receive a welcome email with further details and a compete itinerary. We will schedule a Zoom video call to meet with you, clarify the itinerary and go over any additional questions you have.
We will share the details of the hotels with you privately after booking. If you wish to book additional nights in Marrakech before or after the trip then please book them with free cancellation option in case of any changes. However, be assured (and excited) that each accommodation is handpicked for exceptional customer service and culture.
Accommodation for 5 nights of the trip is in a varied mix of atmospheric accommodations reflective of the differing regions and destinations we visit. For the 2 nights of the tour in the desert we will be in private Berber tents with shared WC and shower facilities.
Most European and many nationalities are eligible for a 30-day tourist visa on arrival in Morocco. Please check before booking.
Yes, definitely.
This is a mandatory trip requirement for booking. Your travel insurance must provide coverage against personal accident, death, medical expenses and emergency repatriation. We also recommend that it covers cancellation, personal liability, loss of luggage and personal effects.
We are limiting this tour to 14 guests to keep it personal and ensure the best experience for everyone!
We do have a 10 person minimum that must be met in order to offer this trip. DO NOT purchase your flights until we have confirmed the trip minimum has been met.
We are a travelling family! And we don’t see any age limits to traveling.
For our group trip to Morocco we suggest children are over the age of 5. But give us a call; we know as parents you are the best judge of knowing you’re child’s limits!
Yes! We are a travelling family and we encourage showing your kids the world.
Children can certainly attend but please be aware of the level of physical activity required for an 8 day trip. Obviously we will assist you with this and we will be traveling with our two children – two experienced, young travellers!
Yes. We would love to inspire other families and parents to travel. There will be a 300 EUR discount per child up to the age of 12.
Flights are not included.
The closest airport for this tour is Menera Airport in Marrakech.
This is our intended and expected itinerary. But, this is Morocco! And we need to be prepared to be flexible. Note that we do reserve the right to modify the itinerary or mode of transport if we need to for any reason beyond our control.
In order to secure your spot on the tour, we require a 500 EUR deposit.
Then, the remaining amount should be sent no later than 90 days before the departure date.
Methods of payment will be shared upon booking your spot.
The remaining balance must be paid no later than 90 days before the start of the tour.
This is non-negotiable. If you do not pay the balance of your trip you place will be given to another individual and your deposit will be forfeited.

Terms and Conditions
Your contract is with Away with the Steiners; a partnership registered in New Zealand.
The following conditions describe your obligations as a customer when purchasing either an independent tour or a group tour through Away with the Steiners.
Booking Policy
The remaining balance must be paid no later than 90 days before the start of the tour.
In order to book and reserve a spot on the tour, a deposit of $500 USD is required, to be paid within 5 working days from the moment the booking information with all the payment options was sent.
Minimum Requirements
We do have an 8 person minimum that must be met in order to offer this trip. Please DO NOT purchase your flights until we have confirmed the trip minimum has been met.
Vaccination Requirements
For guests travelling with us from October 2023, Covid-19 vaccinations and boosters are not a requirement to join us. Please note however that it is the guests responsibility to check and comply with any specific travel vaccination, vaccine and/or booster requirements for the destination chosen.
Cancellation Policy
If the customer wishes to cancel once the deposit was paid, we will try to find a replacement. If we find a replacement, we will give the customer 2 options:
1 – Refund of the deposit minus 250 EUR
2 – The customer might use the whole deposit amount (500 EUR) as credit for a future tour.
Note that we will only look for a replacement once the tour is full. For example, if a tour has a total of 10 spots, but the client decides to cancel when we only filled 6 spots, we will first try to reach 9 customers, the 10th participant being the official replacement of the customer who cancelled.
If no replacement is found, the deposit won’t be refunded.
Cancelling once the customer has paid the remaining balance
If the customer decides to cancel after paying the remaining balance:
- 90 to 60 days before the beginning of the tour: full refund minus 500 EUR deposit
- 60 to 30 days before the beginning of the tour: 50% refund minus 500 EUR deposit
- Less than 30 days: no refund.
Cancellation by us
If the tour needs to be cancelled due to a major force like a global pandemic or any specific event/war/conflict that might affect the customer’s security during the tour or reasons beyond our control, the trip will be postponed. In this scenario you can opt for a refund less 50% of the initial deposit or preferential booking for another trip.
