UNIQUE EXPERIENCE

Our Nepal Group Trip this year is organised with the support of 3 Sisters Adventure Trekking Agency based in Pokhara

Choosing a trekking agency is the biggest decision of the Nepal adventure.

The 3 Sisters Adventure Trekking Agency specialises in training and employing female guides and assistants for treks in and around the Himalayas in Nepal; empowering women through a training programme and NGO Empowering Women of Nepal.
The training program teaches local women the necessary skills for trekking and guiding, including English language skills and knowledge of the tourism and hospitality industry.

The company has strict restrictions to ensure the safety and respect of their employees – women assistants can carry a maximum of 10kg and male assistants 13kg. (And trust me; we saw some porters carrying +30kg!).

Since the company was started in 1994 over 2,000 women from all over Nepal have completed the training.

We look forward to telling you more about it!
"There is nothing like the unspoilt view of the Himalayas. That - and the feeling of achievement reaching your destination each night on foot is something you will remember forever!"

Day 2 – Tour of Kathmandu

After breakfast at our hotel, we will begin a day tour of Kathmandu.  Kathamndu is a city full of historic and cultural sites including Swayambhunath, one of the sacred Buddhist pilgrimage sites and the famous Basantapur Durbar Square.  This square was once the royal palace of the Malla and Shah kings and remains with the original architecture that showcases the skills of the Newari people.

We will leave a few hours free in the afternoon for some shopping in Kathmandu.

Nepali dinner in Thamel.

Overnight in hotel, Kathmandu.

Welcome to Kathmandu, Nepal.

Day 3 – Bus to Pokhara

An early start to get the 07:00am Tourist Bus to Pokhara. Recline and enjoy the sights of rural Nepal following the river from Kathmandu to Pokhara.  The bus stops 3 – 4 times for snacks, lunch and refreshments.  We will arrive in Pokhara in the late afternoon where the first sight are the peaks of the surrounding Annapurna Region.

Overnight in hotel, Pokhara.

Arriving at the bus station in Pokhara.

Day 4 – Trek Prep in Pokhara

Day 5 – Nayapul to Hille – Trek Day 1

Our trekking adventure begins! Transfer by Jeep to the trek starting point of Birethanti; the first village of the trek. Here our Permits are checked and the official adventure really begins. The path from here is peaceful along a dirt road and follows the Bhurungdi Khola river through farming villages and lush mountain valleys before starting a steady climb up the valley to Hille; our home for the first evening.

Overnight in guesthouse, Hille.

Buffaloes and bright green rice fields from our guesthouse in Hille.

Day 6 – Hille to Gorephani – Trek Day 2

Day 2 starts with a steep ascent up the famous stone steps to the Magar village of Ulleri (1960m).  With a few (plenty) stops on the way up we can look forward to tea with incredible views overlooking the valley down to Hille.  The trail continues with a steady climb through colourful villages until lunch on the hillside of Banthanti (2250m).  And from there we follow the river in the shade of the beautiful Rhododendron forests to Gorephani (2875m).

Ghorepani village is the highest-altitude village of the trek.  The name “Ghore Pani” translates to ‘horse water’ in Nepali as this village was once a rest stop for traders and travelers to quench the thirst of their horses on the way to Tibet.

Overnight in teahouse, Gorephani.

The start of the steps to Ulleri.

Day 7 – Poon Hill (3210m) Sunrise – Gorephani to Tadapani – Trek Day 3

The third day of the trek is one of the feelings of achievement and awe that is hard to describe. Start the day with the main destination of the trek – sunrise at summit of Poon Hill (3210m).  Sip a hot tea and watch the sun coming up over the mighty peaks of the Annapurna Range. This is what you have come for!  Descend again to the guesthouse for a delicious breakfast and begin the days trek with a first ascent up Deurali Pass looking back at the spectacular panorama of Poon Hill.  The majority of today is downhill with lunch beside the river.  The afternoon winds downwards through Rhododendron forest before the final (shorter) climb to Tadapani (2610m).

Overnight in teahouse, Tadapani.

An early start for a spectacular sunrise.

Day 8 – Tadapani to Gandruk – Trek Day 4

Sunrise is spectacular again today with a view from the guesthouse overlooking the Annapurna Range.  And today is the easiest trekking day with a short downhill trek from Tadapani to Gandruk. Arrive around lunchtime in Gandruk and freshen up with lunch and a rest in the afternoon.  Gandruk is the biggest village on the Poon Hill trek and home to the ethnic Gurung tribes.  Visit the Gandruk Museum and try on traditional Gurung dress.

Overnight in guesthouse, Gandruk.

 A friendly welcome to Gandruk.

Day 9 – Gandruk to Kimche – Trek Day 5

The final day (downhill) of the Poon Hill Trek. Enjoy a leisurely breakfast and a gentle morning hike descending from Gandruk to Birethanti – back to where we started.  Our Jeep transport will be waiting here to take us back to Pokhara.

Enjoy the afternoon and evening off to rest – and really enjoy the incredible feeling of achievement at completing an amazing 5-Day trek in Nepal!

Day 10 – Fly to Kathmandu

Start the day with a morning flight back to Kathmandu. Witness the majestic Himalayan mountains from above this time!

Say goodbye with a farewell dinner.

Overnight in hotel, Kathmandu.

Day 11 – Hope you enjoyed Nepal!

This is a trip requirement for booking.  Your travel insurance must provide coverage against personal accident, death, medical expenses and emergency repatriation.  We also recommend that it covers cancellation, personal liability, loss of luggage and personal effects.

We are a travelling family! And we don’t see any age limits to traveling. But there are certain physical requirements for this Group Trip in Nepal.

Yes! We are a travelling family and we encourage showing your kids the world.

Children can certainly attend but please be aware of the level of physical activity required for this trip.  Obviously we will assist you with this and we will be traveling with our two children – two experienced, young travellers!
