Planning your trip to Morocco and wondering the best way to stay connected? We have compiled a complete guide to choosing and buying a SIM Card in Morocco.
Read on below for the best option we found for our travels in Morocco.
Because we found a SIM Card for Morocco with unlimited data!
We’ve now visited Morocco twice for a total of eight months of travel – and spoiler alert; we’ve used the same company for an Unlimited Data SIM Card in Morocco both times – it works a treat!
Mobile Providers in Morocco
There are three mobile network operators offering prepaid a SIM Card in Morocco that is easily accessible to travellers.
Mobile Networks in Morocco
- INWI
- Orange Morocco
- Maroc Telecom
| Provider | Best For: |
| Maroc Telecom | The best overall coverage, especially in remote desert or mountain areas. |
| Orange | Great high-speed data in major cities and popular tourist hubs. |
| INWI | Often the most budget-friendly with aggressive data promos. |
It is also possible to buy an eSIM for Morocco through Airalo or Holafly.
I’ll explain more about eSIM options later on; so keep reading to learn more!
Where To Buy a Prepaid SIM Card in Morocco
Staying connected in Morocco is surprisingly easy, but where you buy your SIM card can make a big difference in both your data allowance and your wallet.
Whether you want to hit the ground running or hold out for the best deal, here is the breakdown of your options.
Option 1: Airports & Ports
Most major international airports (like Casablanca or Marrakech) and the Tangier Med Ferry Port have kiosks in the arrivals area:
- The Pros: You get data immediately for maps and ride-sharing apps.
- The Cons: Airport deals are notoriously “tourist-priced”—meaning higher costs for significantly less data.
Note don’t assume every airport has a kiosk. Some of Morocco’s smaller regional airports are very basic and may not have a mobile vendor on-site.
Option 2: Provider Stores
If you are traveling for more than a few days, your best bet is to wait until you reach the city and visit an official mobile provider store.
Look for Maroc Telecom, Orange, or INWI.
- The Pros: You’ll get ‘local’ rates, more transparent data plans, and sometimes even unlimited data offers that aren’t available at the airport.
- The Cons: You’ll be offline during your transit from the airport or ferry port to your accommodation (unless you use the airport Wi-Fi).
Make sure to download Google Maps before you arrive so that you know where you are heading once you arrive in Morocco.
Option 3: Kiosks & Vendors
You will see small telecommunications stalls, convenience stores, and even roadside vendors draped in purple (INWI), orange (Orange), or blue (Maroc Telecom) branding.
These are great for quick top-ups once you are set up. But for your initial SIM registration, a dedicated store is usually smoother as they are more accustomed to registering foreign passports.
The Digital Alternative: eSIMs
If you have a newer phone and want to skip the physical SIM card hunt entirely, Airalo and Holafly are popular digital options.
- Airalo: Usually offers smaller, affordable data chunks.
- Holafly: Known for providing “unlimited” data plans, though they come at a higher price point than local physical SIMs.
Now, let’s take a look at the data and data plans offered by INWI, Orange, Maroc Telecom – and Airalo and Holafly.

ORANGE – Buying a SIM Card in Morocco
Orange has streamlined its offerings this year to provide a local SIM Card for tourists with more data for your Dirham.
Updated Orange Price Plans (30-Day Validity)
Here is the current breakdown for Orange prepaid tourist SIMs:
| Data | Price (MAD) | Approx. EUR |
| 5 GB | 59 MAD | €5.40 |
| 25 GB | 119 MAD | €10.90 |
| 45 GB | 199 MAD | €18.20 |
| 60 GB | 249 MAD | €22.80 |
The Orange SIM Card is a good deal if you also want to make phone calls in Morocco as they have calling minutes included in their data packages.
Plus, Orange offers the cheapest prepaid SIM Card deal. However Orange also has the smallest 4G network in Morocco.
INWI – Buying a SIM Card in Morocco
INWI is often the wildcard choice for travellers in Morocco.
While it traditionally offered the most flexible budget plans, it has evolved in 2026 into a serious contender for the best overall network, especially if you plan on doing a road trip through the Atlas Mountains or the Sahara.
What sets INWI apart is its aggressive data bundles and a genuine ‘unlimited data’ option that is hard to beat if you’re a digital nomad.
Updated INWI Price Plans (30-Day Validity)
INWI has simplified its ‘pay-as-you-go’ structure.
In most cases, you are essentially paying 10 MAD per GB (~€1 EUR).
Here are the current 2026 prepaid options:
| Data | Price (MAD) | Approx. EUR |
| 5 GB | 50 MAD | €4.70 |
| 15 GB | 100 MAD | €9.40 |
| 25 GB | 150 MAD | €14.10 |
| 50 GB | 200 MAD | €18.80 |

Maroc Telecom – Buying a SIM Card in Morocco
In 2026, Maroc Telecom has significantly increased its data allowances to stay competitive with INWI and Orange, making it much better value than in previous years.
Updated Maroc Telecom Price Plans (30-Day Validity)
The Maroc Telecom prepaid SIM card is often provided for a small fee (around 20–30 MAD) or even free if you load it with a substantial data “Pass” immediately.
| Data | Price (MAD) | Approx. EUR |
| 10 GB | 100 MAD | ~€9.50 |
| 20 GB | 199 MAD | ~€18.50 |
| 50 GB | 299 MAD | ~€28.00 |
| 100 GB | 499 MAD | ~€46.00 |
Buying a Prepaid SIM Card From a Street Vendor
It is also possible to get a SIM Card for Morocco from a street vendor.
But do be aware that there is often no fixed price.
These sellers offer SIM Cards from Orange, INWI and Maroc Telecom and will likely have a stack (literally) of SIM Cards in their hand.
At Tangier Med Port
On arrival at the port in Tangier Med the only SIM Card for Morocco on offer were from INWI. They might be standing (again, literally) on the side of the road wearing a t-shirt or cap from one of these mobile providers.
In Casablanca
In Casablanca (despite already having a SIM card after a month of travel in Morocco) these guys offered us a Sim Card for 20 EUR with 40 GB data from Orange. When we declined (we both had SIMs) they started to lower their price and ask us to choose a price.
It is also worth noting you may not be able to read the activation and confirmation text messages in Arabic (and on some occasions they have been known to delete the message before you even have a chance to translate it).
However, our purchase of an initial INWI Prepaid SIM Card at the Tangier Port from street vendors was straightforward, friendly and activated immediately with the amount of data described.

Costs: SIM Card in Morocco
How much does it cost to recharge data for your prepaid SIM Card in Morocco?
For INWI and Maroc Telecom the cost to recharge your SIM is similar.
It basically costs 10 MAD (around 1 EUR) per GB of data.
Unlimited Data SIM Card in Morocco
Can you really get an Unlimited Data SIM Card for Morocco with INWI?
By far the best deal we found for a SIM Card in Morocco was an Unlimited Data SIM Card through mobile provider INWI.
Albeit we did buy a prepaid SIM Card first at the arrival port in Tangier Med. But upon learning about the unlimited data SIM from INWI we headed to the next INWI Store (in Asilah) and each bought a new SIM.
Buying an Unlimited Data SIM Card in Morocco
If you are a digital nomad or just someone who hates counting gigabytes – or just after the best deal SIM card in Morocco – INWI’s Unlimited Data Plan remains the gold standard for travellers in 2026.
While other providers offer large bundles, INWI is the only one with a truly robust, contract-free unlimited option for prepaid users.
The setup requires a bit of an initial investment, but the freedom of never running out of data while navigating the Medina or the Atlas Mountains is worth every Dirham.
The 2026 Cost Breakdown
To get started, you’ll need to visit an official INWI Store (not a third-party kiosk) with your passport.
| Phase | Cost (MAD) | Approx. EUR/USD |
| Month 1 (Setup) | 449 MAD | ~€42.00 / $45.00 |
| Month 2+ (Renewal) | 249 MAD | ~€23.00 / $25.00 |
Note on Setup: The initial price includes a 200 MAD activation fee plus your first month’s 249 MAD subscription. After that, you only pay the monthly renewal fee.
How to Get (and Keep) Your Data
- The Store Visit: Head to an INWI agency. The process takes about 30 minutes. They will scan your passport, register the line, and hand you a live SIM card.
- Activation: Your 30 days start the moment the card is activated in-store.
- Renewing Your Plan: You have two ways to keep the “unlimited” party going:
- In-Person: Visit any INWI store before your 30 days expire to pay for the next month.
- Online/App: Use the My INWI app or their website.
- Tip: If you aren’t fluent in French or Arabic, use the Google Translate browser extension to navigate the payment portal.
Why This is the Best Value
Most “Tourist SIM Card in Morocco” options average out to 10 MAD per 1 GB.
Meaning, if you use more than 25 GB a month, this unlimited plan pays for itself.
In 2026, with the expansion of 5G in major cities like Casablanca and Rabat, this plan is faster and more reliable than ever.
Fair Usage Policy
While it is marketed as “unlimited,” INWI does have a Fair Usage Policy (FUP).
If you cross a massive threshold (usually around 100 GB in a month), your speeds may be throttled to 2 Mbps. For 99% of travelers, this is more than enough for video calls, Netflix, and uploading your entire photo gallery to the cloud.
We still rate this hands down as the best SIM Card in Morocco!

Topping Up: SIM Card in Morocco
Where and how do you top-up your Prepaid SIM Card in Morocco?
It’s easy to recharge your prepaid SIM Card in Morocco at any small kiosk or convenience store.
Just look out for the INWI, Orange or Maroc Telecom logo above the store and ask them to recharge ‘data’ (if that is what you want).
It is important to specify ‘data’ if you only need that as the standard top up includes less data and more local calling minutes.
- Tip: If you are travelling Morocco by motorhome, some campgrounds (especially in the North of Morocco) will be able to assist you and recharge your phone directly via the providers app on their phone.
How To Buy an eSIM for Morocco
It is possible to get an eSIM for Morocco in which you don’t even need to buy or find a SIM card to put in your phone on arrival in Morocco.
This is easy to download and via the app (with Airalo) it is easy to top-up by credit card and ensure you always have access to data in Morocco.
However, eSIM cards in Morocco are not widely tested and travelled YET. This means they are a pricey (pricier?) way of getting data in Morocco.
Which is saying something; as they aren’t particularly cheap in Europe yet either.
But there are options with either Airalo or Holafly to get an eSIM (which you can download before you arrive) and activate it as soon as you arrive.
Airalo: eSIM for Morocco
If you have an eSIM-compatible phone and want to avoid the hassle of physical SIM cards, Airalo is the most popular digital choice for Morocco.
Their Moroccan eSIM is named ‘Choukran’ (which means “Thank you” in Arabic).
As of 2026, Airalo has updated its pricing and added an “Unlimited” option, making it more competitive for heavy data users.
Airalo Choukran Plans
Airalo offers several tiers depending on how long you’re staying and how much you plan to scroll.
All plans are data-only (no local phone number).
| Data Allowance | Validity | Price (USD) |
| 1 GB | 7 Days | $9.50 |
| 2 GB | 15 Days | $14.50 |
| 3 GB | 30 Days | $20.50 |
| 5 GB | 30 Days | $31.50 |
| 10 GB | 30 Days | $35.00 |
| Unlimited Data | 10 Days | $35.00 |

Holafly: eSIM for Morocco
You can also get a Morocco eSIM from Holafly.
Unlike many other eSIMs that cap your data at a few gigabytes, Holafly has moved almost entirely to unlimited plans in 2026.
This is the “set it and forget it” option—you won’t have to worry about running out of maps or hitting a data ceiling while uploading photos from the Sahara.
Holafly Morocco Data Plans
Holafly’s pricing is now based on the number of days you need, rather than a fixed amount of gigabytes.
| Duration | Price (USD) |
| 3 Days | $11.70 |
| 5 Days | $19.50 |
| 7 Days | $27.30 |
| 10 Days | $36.90 |
| 15 Days | $50.90 |
| 20 Days | $61.90 |
| 30 Days | $74.90 |

do not forget to get your sim card here in morocco to stay connected and live the ebst moments through s’tours organisation.
so I took your advice on the unlimited but they actually charge you 200 for the initiation process which is like a month’s worth of service. so this can be quite pricey for someone here short term. what you think you’re paying for? the second month is actually the first month post-pay
